One of the truly great undiscovered classics, "Metalized" will live forever as the irrefutable argument why major record labels cannot be trusted to bring us the best music. While Sword wallowed in obscurity, big labels were busy bringing us such winners as Poison and Warrant. Such a waste.
This is the avenue Heavy Metal would have taken if not for the short lived grunge era. A cross between Armored Saint and Metallica, Sword brings the best of heavy guitar work and the out of this world vocals that popularized great bands of this era. A lost gem for any Metal Head trying to piece together what could have been, and most definitely a great inspiration for lead singers trying to polish their chops!
I first discovered Sword as music director at my college station, when we got the promo copy from Combat Records in 86. It quickly became one of my favorites and I still love listening to it today. Very powerful classic metal. No thrash, no glam, no big hair, no speed - just an exceptionally clean, polished and balanced recording that you can't help but play over and over and louder and louder. Vocals are strong but not screeching; infectious choruses; nice riffs and licks; solid and powerful rythym sec..
