My son attends an online school and his desk space was very limited. We did not have room to put the flat stacking shelves on his desk area, so we tried this. It works GREAT, in that it takes up very little room on his desk, it only sticks out about 4" from the wall. It is made of a very thick plastic, would take quite a bit to crack it, unlike the flat, stack-able shelves, which we managed to crack all the time.
