On six total runs, the heart rate monitor only worked twice. Heart rate monitoring was working up to the point I would start sweating...usually mile 2-3, at which point it would stop working. Sometimes it would come back when I repositioned/wiped the sweat away, but it usually didn't. I really wanted this watch to work. The idea of not having to wear a chest HR strap is great, but this watch isn't the answer. Perhaps a firmware/software update will be released to fix the HR problems, but until then, avoid this watch.
I contacted TomTom's support page and got no response after two days. A watch that doesn't work as advertised and a lack of support equals me returning this watch and going with another proven brand. Let me know when you work out the bugs because I really want this to work.
(And TomTom, don't tell me it's my fault. I've tried the inside of...Read more

I bought a TomTom MultiSport Cardio Performance Bundle to compare side-by-side with my Garmin Forerunner 620. Over the past two weeks, I did several 10K runs indoors and outdoors with both watches on.These are the highlights of my comparison:All the functions of the TomTom Cardio worked just as advertised. This included all the in-watch workout functionality, Bluetooth Smart connection with my Android smartphone and synchronization with third party apps. The watch looked great and fit on my wrist perfectly. It is a joy to run without sensors like straps and footpods. The built-in HRM produces almost identical HR stats to the Garmin with the HRM strap. I was not able to detect any deviations in the HR graphs. This is a clear advantage of the TomTom.I found that on several of my trail runs, the TomTom's GPS tracks were closer to the trail than the FR620 - not by much but noticeable on the satellite maps when you zoom in. Perhaps the...Read more
Initial Impression:Before I purchased this watch, I noticed several mixed reviews, so I was a little hesitant. After 2 weeks, 10 runs and several walks, and a direct comparison (side-by-side) with Garmin Forerunner 910XT with heart monitor (which I own for more than 2 years) these are my initial impressions:1. TomTom clearly picks up the GPS signal faster, sometimes 1 minute before Garmin (usually around 15-30s).Winner: TomTom.2. Garmin and Tomtom give quite similar running distances with an error of <5% between them. But it seems that Garmin tends to overestimate running distances when I compare them with Google Maps and other map systems. For example, in all certified marathons I ran (>10 at least), Garmin always overestimated the distance (up to 5%). So, TomTom seems more conservative in this regard.Winner: TomTom.3. HR. Garmin gives fairly stable readings over time that match very well your perceived effort. I rarely...Read more
