I own a lot of high quality cookware, including Le Creuset cast iron, which I use mostly for simmering and stewing, and Mauviel copper, which I use for tasks that need a more responsive pan. I forget exactly why I bought this particular Fissler stainless steel casserole, but it has been an excellent buy. It is very heavy, which makes it good for simmering stews, soups or pasta sauces. It feels extremely well made. Although it does not have the smooth internal enamel surface of a Le Creuset, food does not burn or stick to the pan and cleaning up after use is easy. For me the most important point is that because of the stainless steel surface I can use a Braun hand blender directly inside the pan to liquidise soups with worrying about the finish - I would be very reluctant to do that with any of my Le Creuset pieces. Externally the finish has developed a stained patina that I could no doubt remove if I wanted but I prefer it as it is; it looks pleasantly well used. The handles get warm...Read more
