Wires & The Concept of Breathing
this is like the first fashioncore pop-screamo album i've ever liked. i didn't even like these guys' ep of last year at all. this album is like the follow-up Finch should have made to their 2002 debut What It Is To Burn. what makes these guys so much better than all their black hair dyed peers; the drummer does a lot of fills, the vocals have a lot of great double tracked harmonies, the overproduction actually seems to work in favor of the dual guitar arrangements, and there's a keyboardist in there somewhere. the metalcore breakdowns add some diversity but also make the band seem more cliched and the screamy vocals typically smack of effort but the songs progress fast enough for it to not be too much of a detraction.

This is not a typical throwaway emo/screamo band with post-hardcore beginnings. This is a band that can play music that is both aggressive and beautiful with melodies that defy the conventions of the screamo genre. The songs are always heavily dowsed by potent and catchy melodies that will be stuck in your head for days, and the clarity of the vocalist's voice is unbelievable. It sounds almost angelic. Ignorant people will say "girly," but if you can't hear the talent in his voice, you have no taste for music. No, this band and CD certainly won't be for everyone, but if you have an open mind and like melody-driven music and can tolerate the high-flying vocals, there is...
