This is the newer model of the SRS-X3 which I already thought sounded amazing, especially for a speaker in its price range. The differences between this and last years model is that its now 20% smaller. After comparing the two, the size difference makes it much easier to grip in one hand if you're carrying it around. In addition, the speaker now supports higher quality stream, so a big plus for those who wanted better streaming in the previous model.

Other than that, the speaker still sounds pretty similar to its predecessor, but does seem to push out a little bit more highs. Reviews on the SRS-X3 mentioned that the speaker did not charge while it was on due to the charge light turning off--that is incorrect for the X3 and X33. The manual states that the speaker does in fact charge while on, but the charging speed may be decreased (most likely depends on how much power is being drawn for the speaker volume). One final note, the SRS-X33 does not let you control the volume...Read more

My wife and I tackled for a few days over what portable speaker to purchase. We first purchased the Sony X2, and we were pretty impressed with it--small speaker with some high volume, high quality sound. However, we weren't fully convinced for the $100 we shelled out at Best Buy. Suffering a bit from buyer's remorse, we packaged it back up and took it back to Best Buy just to see if there was anything better. We saw that the Sony SRSX33 was on sale for the same price ($100), and decided to give that one a try. After having just plugged it in and giving it a shot, we are VERY happy with this purchase. The sound quality in general is superb--with incredible bass! Not even turned up all the way, we could feel the bass vibrating through the walls and floor. Needless to say, I would strongly recommend this bad boy for those who are looking for a compact, portable, powerful, and inexpensive speaker!
