Anyone that knows how to read a clock can get by without it.The real issue I've found is its durability. I've used other spackles that simply hold up better. DryDex is fine for patching nail holes but don't use it where it'll see any kind of wear and tear. Around outside corners, around doorjambs, large patches, that kind of thing. It pops out over time or cracks. This is right next to other brands of spackle that doesn't seem to have any problems.The final problem, and this is a small one, is that it browns over time. When I moved into this apartment the walls had numerous spackle patches from previous tenants that hadn't been painted over. Finding several nail holes and other defects that had been missed I repaired them with DryDex. After about a year they had started turning tan/brown.
