Tripp Lite Shelf, March 2, 2010

Well made and sturdy shelf. Use for those components that do not have a rack mount kit. I'm using one shelf for a CD player and a BluRay player.

I have a couple of these shelves installed in a home rack, one for A/V equipment and one holding three heavy tower UPS units. The strength and stability of these shelves is very good. There is little to no bending or give to the shelf with the three heavy units on it (I may be exceeding design limit, not sure exactly), though they are near the front and sides. Overall, very pleased with the strength.The one knock that I have with it, hence the 4 stars, is that the "ears" and sides of the shelf come in a bit far -- perhaps a quarter inch into the shelf space -- and of course won't flex out. The maximum equipment width that you can put in these is probably about 18-1/2" (guessing here) as I had some equipment that was about 18-5/8" and it did not quite fit. Bought a smaller shelf that did not lose quite as much space and it worked fine (then repurposed this shelf, did not return it).
