We own a Bosch dishwasher and this is their recommendation for salt for the water softener. Shop carefully as Finish branded salt seems to exact a premium in price.We tried several other brands of salt before actually using this in the Bosch. All have worked just fine. What we have found is there are two types of dishwasher salt... granular and pelletized. Our experience is that the pelletized version seems to get consumed quicker than granular.Our owners manual didn't actually list the softener's salt capacity, but we've found that it holds 2 lbs, and many of these brands sell in a metric weight with the minimal simple conversion being 2.2 lbs for the smallest bag or box. We bought a new Bosch 800 Series Plus dishwashwer and it came with a test strip to determine the hardness/softness of our water. We don't have a whole-house water softener as our water is middle-of-the-road as far as hardness is concerned. The test strip indicated that our water is slightly hard (expected) and that the Bosch/Finish dishwasher salt would produce some benefit. Our new Bosch dishwasher has a compartment in the bottom of the unit to fill with this salt. The owner's manual showed how to change the setting on the dishwasher to put the right amount of salt into the process based on the results of the test strip. We ran several loads without the addition of the salt and the results were amazing compared to our 5-year old GE Profile that it replaced. When the salt showed up from Amazon, we loaded the unit up and tried it out. I've never seen such universally clean and spotless dishes.
