Mr. Rowe's voice has been compared to everyone from Tom Waits to Johnny
Cash, including Greg Brown, Leonard Cohen etc. There is even an element of
Nick Cave in his balladry. His songwriting is as if Cohen and Waits had
an illegitimate son and grafted Tom Jones' voice box on him.
This is my second album by Sean Rowe, the first being the exquisite Salesman And
The Shark that moves from strength to strength--complete with the Surf Guitar ending
to the song Downwind. Although all the strengths are intact on Madman, brilliant,
deep lyrics and impassioned delivery I feel it is not quite as breathtaking as The Salesman
& The Shark--it is still a million miles ahead of most singer/songwriter's fare and I strongly
suggest having it in one's collection. The disco-fied soul song Desiree seems a bit
