First let me say I don't profess to know much about metal detecting. I bought this metal detector to find my wedding ring, which flew off my finger the other night while I was playing volleyball in the backyard with the kids (it was a chilly night and the ring was loose on my finger.) After an hour of searching, I figured it was worth it to buy an inexpensive metal detector in hopes of finding my ring.I ordered it on Wednesday, it arrived on Friday (2 day shipping for $3.99 with prime.) I put the batteries in, read through the well-written booklet and did the tests it suggested. We had no problems finding the test objects (penny, quarter, nail) so I started "sweeping" the area where I thought it might be. I found it within 15 minutes.
