I have been waiting on this box-set for a long time!! I do love everything Billy Corgan and the Pumpkins has ever done! Iv been a fan since Gish came out and I have followed The Smashing Pumpkins for years!! I have always thought Adore stood out above the rest and it was a change of pace for the Pumpkins!! Artistically, I think that this album was one of the best! I remember when this came out and even though it started good, the album just didn't do very well! But out of all their albums, I have always felt the closest to Adore! Now I guess Ill wait for the Machina re-issue! Now Ill stop rambling and get to the point! I highly recommend this box set to any Smashing Pumpkins fan! For one, the DVD that comes with this is incredible! Originally released sporting a black and white photo depicting a bowing girl in front of what looked like an umbrella, "Adore"'s reissue cover presents the complete picture frame in colour. The girl apears to be one of the petals of a blossomed red rose. How beautiful, indeed. The Smashing Pumpkins have always incorporated poetic elements in their work, but on "Adore" poetic they became. Whereas previous albums were more punchy and straight-forward affairs, on this, a dark, melancholic, melodic, introspective quality runs through each of the 16 songs, appropriately, as during that time the band were dealing with death and seperation (frontman Billy Corgan's mother's death, his divorce, the reunion with his father, asking drummer Jimmy Chamberlin to leave the band etc.).
