I used an HP 4050N for years as my main printer and a HUGE HP4700 color laser at work. The Xerox Phaser 6500DN is smaller than the HP color and does a better job. It has a built-in duplex unit that allows two sided printing of PDF documents (Word doesn't have this feature). The printer automatically goes into standby until you need it and quickly turns on to start printing. It's extremely fast at better than 20 pages per minute or about 3 seconds per page.

The printer is pretty compact. I unpacked the box and removed the protective tape that is clearly marked in various places. I never even read the manual. I don't have a network connection where the printer is located, so I plugged in an Apple Airport Extreme that connects wirelessly to my Airport base station and ran a regular network cable from the Airport Extreme to the Printer's ethernet port.
