 | | The top "comment" featured on this page is a scathing review of this latest work by Jamiroquai. Of course that reviewer's opinion is as every bit as valid as mine and that's what makes music so great. All I can say is that my official review is a virtual reverse mirror image of that persons' opinion. This album is incredible and needs to drop in the United States immediately. It's among the band's finest work period. Just listen. Nothing more needs to be said except ... Jamiroquai sounds better than ever! | 17 |
 | | I had looked around the net for news of a new Jamiroquai a couple of years ago and read up on JK and the trouble with Sony, specifically that Sony had wanted to peg Jamiroquai as a dance-oriented band or limit their sound, and JK wasn't happy. Well, I wasn't either. It isn't that the 2001 and 2005 weren't good, they were just pretty restricted, and that betrayed they're initial sound. They are good at straight dance music (pop-trance), but listening to their early work, you can see they were always much more, and had been narrowed and confined into a place they didn't want to be, and when JK said they were at work making the kind of album the band wanted to do again, I held out a lot of hope for what became Rock Dust Light Star.I was really looking forward to a album with wide ranging style and feel like Travelling Without Moving or The Return of the Space Cowboy. I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED, and neither will you.I don't get why anyone seriously a fan of the band... | 8 |
 | | I have to preface my review by saying that I have been listening to Jamiroquai for many years. This band is, without a doubt, my favorite. Seasoned listeners will be disappointed if they expect a `Dynamite' or `Funk Odyssey' sound. However, if you keep your mind open and realize that this is not about keeping the same sound, it is about Jay Kay and Jamiroquai showing that they are so much more than what we have heard, you will adore it.....Rock Dust Light Star -The title track was one that was released early on You Tube by a few eager fans holding camera phones. I was so very excited to hear this on the album however; this is actually one of my least favorite songs. There is some sloppy guitar work in this one and the background singers seem to overpower Jay Kay on too many occasions. I... | 9 |
