It provides you the ability to set up either a range extender or and Access Point with your WIFI system to provide better coverage of your home or office. | Author: D. Christenson (Seattle,.. | I have gone through 3 of these things already. (2 have already been replaced by Netgear's RMA warranty process). Either I'm the unluckiest person who buys Netgear products, or this wifi extender has a major flaw. ALL THREE of these that I've used, have stopped working between 4-5 months. It was not an issue of vicinity to my Netgear router...they were all used in the same place and showed the exact same symptoms when they stopped working. All of the lights on the unit are green when setup properly and unit has good connections, 4-5 months later, the unit lights will turn red and orange, and the signals will be nonexistent. No amount of resetting, or reconfigurations solves the problem....they just go dead. Netgear has been pretty good at sending me replacements, but it costs me shipping costs (nearly $20) each time I receive a replacement. Why should I have to replace a $100 wifi extender every 4-5 months?? | 7 |
 | Author: E. Colina | First I tried to configure it according to the manual thru the WPS and it failed, then I tried several times thru the other ways described in the manual, all failed. So I called Netgear's Tech Support, and after an hour and a half of doing an unholy number of configurations, checkings, re-checkings, everything, we finally through an undocumented procedure, we were able to configure this extender, so I plugged it in the place where it was supposed to be permanently. Obviously I checked again the connection and everything was fine for about 1/2 an hour and then it failed, with configuration lost with no way to recover it.As you can imagine, this extender was returned. | 9 |
