I love the harmonies and the style of music. I was sorry when these three stopped performing together. It's been fun to share this part of my past with my adult children.
Many years ago when A Prairie Home Companion was an unknown local radio show in St. Paul, MN, and Garrison Keillor and "Jim Ed Poole" were the hosts, they would play the music of Gordon Bok, the easterner with the deep, resonant voice and the deep, resonant twelve-string. I was captivated by his songs of Maritime fishermen and their long-suffering wives, the folk tales of the region, and the myths and the obscure legends. I owned this LP on vinyl, and had it committed to memory. He was performing on the show and I had to see him. Happily he was appearing with Ed Trickett and Ann Mayo Muir, who accompany him on this album. I drew a rough ink sketch of Bok and sent it in an envelope, requesting tickets for the show. Garrison had the envelope and my drawing, and actually mentioned it on the show, along with my name.
