The Lords Are Here!!, April 10, 2012

Deep Chills
Yeah, I know, that line is from Lust but it certainly fits. LOA are back and at the top of their game. Again, Praga and his henchmen and woman bring us another album to appall and shock. From the first track to the last, we get true LOA. Farstucker was a far cry from the groups genius of Lust and Voodoo U but I honestly have to say that this CD is a mixture of both with a tiny bit of OLS thrown in. If you wished the Lords to go back to their roots, than your wish has been granted. Long live Jahmbi!

It is my pleasure to announce that after a decade of relative silence, Lords of Acid are back with their new album Deep Chills. Listening to this album proves that LoA have not missed a beat over the years. In fact they have taken that beat to new playgrounds. While staying true to their signature sound they take the opportunity with Deep Chills to experiment and see how Lords would mesh with many other musical styles. The musical experimentation here reminds me of the Beastie Boys experimental album Paul's Boutique. What are the results of the Acid tests here? An album that shows the brilliance of Praga Khan transcending boundaries into a wide rage of catchy riffs, beats, humor, and kink. In short, a strange trip that is worth more then the price of admission.Let's start with the songs that scream Lords Of Acid. Little Mighty Rabbit and Pop That Tooshie are what comes to mind when you think of this band. Songs that drip with sex with a beat that shakes the dance floor or...

I absolutely delighted that LoA are back in business, and possibly even better than before. After 10 years of hiatus, I thought LoA were surely done, but the Lords don't go done that easily! This CD fantastic, I'm so happy and relieved that LoA stuck to their true style. The electric/techno genre of this CD, not to mention the amazing bass, is going to have these songs going through your head all day long. Personal favorites are 'Drowning in Ecstasy', 'Pop That Tooshie', 'Children of Acid', 'Little Mighty Rabbit', 'Long Johns', and 'Sole Sucker'.Really hoping to see more releases from this band in the near future!!
