Decent bulbs (not obnoxious but still white), January 29, 2011

PIAA 19172 Features: Provide A Brilliant Xtreme Cool White Light Will Light Up Road Hazards And Street Signs Type: Fog Lights/Driving Lights Weight: 0.10 lbs Quality: Performance
These bulbs are pretty decent, like most people expressed in their reviews, I wished they were a little brighter but now that I've had a chance to look at it, I feel it's actually a lot classier than what I was originally wanting. The light is not obnoxious so it doesn't look like I'm some 16 year old who thought it would be awesome to blind everyone. The lights look exactly like the ones the new BMWs have, so it just looks like a nice upgrade you paid for at the dealer (which, I guess, classes it up a little). When I see those super bright extreme white LEDs on people's car, I feel they are just screaming for attention - and that's a little sophomoric to me...if you're looking for that, you might want to consider a regular LED or another bulb. I think my car looks a little more fresh than before, which is exactly how I want it to be.

Don't let the blue color of these bulbs fool you. They give bright white light without blue tint. If you order PIAA Intense White headlights, you have to get these as well. Other wise your stock parking lights wont match the color temperature of those PIAA headlights and will look odd.I also ordered another pair for my license plate lights as well and now I have bright white light all around the car. Looks much better then stock bulbs.

I purchased several sets of PIAA extreme white bulbs of differing sizes, tried them, returned some to Amazon then purchased some of what I returned again. Why?PIAA, Hella, Sylvania etc. seem to market the non-HID or Xenon automotive bulb products primarily by wattage and light temperature (Kelvin). I do not normally find a lumen rating which I would prefer since my objective in upgrading bulbs is to see further or brighter. My 1991 BMW uses traditional halogen bulbs everywhere so I hoped for better-than-OEM. Here are my conclusions after installation and usage.I find "wattage" as in 55w=110w misleading. I do not believe, and my opinion, that the extreme white bulbs illuminate any further than the original 55w halogen bulb. I placed one PIAA in one of two fog lights and observed equidistant visibility with it and the stock Hella type 9006 55w bulb. Thus, "lumen" would be the measurement I would have preferred rather than watts. The Kelvin scale color...
