This device is very usefull and easy to use but $18 is a bit expensive for a simple awl stitcher. Have since found identical item by itself-not in kit- for $3 at Harbor Freight Store.

I ordered this item for my son because he wants to get into leather working. The image shows two different awls. I have the speedy stitcher awl myself and thought he would like having both. I could get one of these for about half of the price listed for this item but as it showed both I went ahead and ordered it. Only the stitcher with the internal bobbin arrived. When I contacted the company they simply replied that the item was only the one stitcher with the spool of thread and the needle. It makes no sense to pay twice as much plus shipping to get something I could get much cheaper locally, but the company refuses to acknowledge that. Read the description VERY carefully because the image they adverstise has very little to do with what they are actually selling and integrity is apparently not a core value for this company.

I bought a stitcher like this one decades ago and have missed having it ever since I lost it. The Deluxe Stitcher Kit appears to be identical to the one I used to have. It is cheap, simple, and was able to repair my thick leather gloves. I also used it to re-stitch the cuff on my leather (welding) jacket. The thread is waxed to go through material more easily (which is needed), and the it is thick enough to be quite strong and not wear out quickly. This makes a wonderful addition to my tool box.It is good for what is paid, but it would garner a 5 star rating with better materials and workmanship.
