Benchmade makes the best knives. I've owned several and given them as gifts and not one has ever experienced a failure. The weight feels good in the hand and you can feel the quality. The AXIS mechanism is a little stiff at first, but wears in quickly to an ideal state.
The blade stays sharp, although you do have to care for it as with any high-quality knife.
