I spent quite a bit of time researching KVM switches. I was replacing a two-port VGA KVM switch and needed to move up to a minimum of three ports and DVI. My main criteria were A) support both Mac and Windows computers, B) above average chance of it supporting wireless keyboard (using an older Logitech Comfort Cordless Keyboard, which I was willing to upgrade if needed), and C) reasonably small form factor due to placement under my home office desk.
Due to its compact size, the connections on the rear panel are tight but you only set...Read more
I've had this KVM for a few days now, and like its responsiveness.. no problem switching between systems. I bought it because an analogous Belkin KVM developed flakiness after a few months (and it was the second system from them, the first being immediately flaky). The problem I have with this unit is it drops keys. Also sometimes keys repeat until another key is struck. This happens across multiple win7-64 systems. I have many different types of system connected as time goes by, as my third box is a testbed which changes OS/video card often. The problem is evident on all of them.Peculiarities of my system include a fancy Razer Blackwidow Ultimate keyboard, which may (somehow?) be more than the KVM can handle. I do know that it's a USB2 keyboard.Currently not sure if I'm going to return the product or not.. still searching for workarounds. Still, it seems like this is yet another KVM with implementation issues.
I don't write many product reviews, but when I was looking for a new KVM - my main requirement was that it work with my cordless backlit Logitech K800 keyboard which I am happy to say that it does! There are some other "features" on it though that are a little annoying leave me wanting more. Here are the pros and cons:Pros:1. Works with Logitech K800 illuminated keyboard!!2. ATEN technical support is excellent3. DVI / sound supportCons:1. Switching is somewhat slow (approx 5-7 seconds before I get keyboard or mouse response) after display comes up.2. Power on Detection feature wakes up a sleeping computer3. Mouse emulation does not support more than a 3-button mouse (forward and back buttons do not work, unless you disable mouse emulation and make it a pass-through USB port)-which makes the switching time even longer. The Power On Detection "feature" allows the KVM to automatically switch from a machine that is...Read more
