Belkin 7-Outlet Surge Protector, February 2, 2011

I purchased two surge protectors and so far we love them. My primary purpose for writing this review is to warn others to register their product for full protection.After spending two days at the Belkin site, trying to register online I gave up and called the 800 number for U.S. customers (800-223-5546). While explaining the problem to the first customer service rep -- outsourced -- and mentioned solely because I don't think he understood why I needed to register my surge protectors. He stated my products were "already registered" prior to shipping. Huh? I asked how that is possible and he explained, Belkin has the serial number of each product and that's how registration occurs. I told him the enclosed product paperwork states, "please register your Belkin Surge Protector online on our website belkin.com" and politely asked to speak to another rep.While on hold, my husband told me of a friend of his that recently lost a bunch of expensive equipment when...

I'm happy with this product. It does have a minor defect in that there are little covers that are supposed to slide across the outlets when not in use, but they don't slide - they just pop out. Most power strips don't even have them, so I'm not worried about it.

The extra long cord is a plus for my needs! I only use Belkin and APC brand surge protectors for my computer equipment. They seem comparable in quality.
