I bought this version hoping that the matrix functions might have been "augmented" ( no pun intended.. OK pun intended! ). From what I can tell, other than a sleeker industrial design, this is the same as the EL-W516.In any case, a great calc.Dave

I have used Sharp scientific calculators over the past 8 years with no disappointment. I decided to replace my faithful EL 506. Its battery died 2 years ago and its been running on solar ever since, as I never got time to replace it (yes it works excellent under fluorescent light so it wasnt a problem). As I am an Electrical Engineering student, I find the features on this model to be quite useful for those in engineering in general(especially the complex & matrix modes). The user friendly interface allows you to easily navigate each menu and select the desired features. The Write View feature just tops it all off, surd form display makes life a breeze. No more mistakes in entering data - you see it as it is. I recommend this solar/battery model over the battery only model for obvious reasons..the battery can be dead and you're still going. Great product, great price, great buy.
