After searching many sites and coming up with the filter I wanted to use on my newly self installed GE GXWH40L whole house filter, I came here to Amazon to find the best pricing for filters. I installed the filter setup before the water softener. We are on a community pump station (Aqua Texas) that pulls the water from the Trinity Aquifer. I never realized how much sediment/rust was in our water. Within two hours the filter was already changing from the bright white to a dull appearance. It has now been installed for two weeks, is turning a nice dark brown color and there is no decrease in water pressure. It will be interesting to see how long the filter lasts.
If you have a whole house filter and are spending over twice the amount on store bought "lesser" filters, rethink your spending and get these filters. Pentek may not be a "in your face" name like GE or Whirlpool, but they are great filters. A little online research will prove this.
