I bought two of the fans for wet-rated outdoor use. Within 6 months both fans stopped working. I am not sure if I sustained a lightning strike or some sort of power surge. I would suggest making sure the power switch is turned off when not in use... not just remote turned off.

We got eight of these at Costco. It's a close-out item in all Costco stores for $150 each. For the price we paid, we couldn't have been happier. It's built with high quality, quiet and smooth. The remote control works very well. I was never a big fan of the thing hanging down the fan that you can change the speed and this fan is just what I needed. Three speed levels adjustable by remote. No ugly looking hanging down chain any more. Stylish and versatile. The only thing I would change is the light bulbs that came with it. They are not bright enough. But they never are. Overall, a must-buy bargain!
