Saved all my equipment when others didn't, July 10, 2003

Protect computer, networking and telecom equipment from surges, spikes and line noise with this premium suppressor
Cannot recommended Tripp-Lite enough. I had this Isobar Ultra filled with computer equipment. An electrician's company fed 220 volts into two house circuits. The equipment plugged into the Tripplites were fine. The electronics plugged into a cheaper strip all fried. $3,000 worth of damage. If I had spent the money on the TrippLite I would still have my 36" HDTV, DVD, and VCR.

I don't normally write reviews but after experiencing a major power surge that blew out our electrical panel, I felt the performance of this product should be reported.First and foremost, this product rocks! With as severe of a surge as we experienced I had nightmares of blown-out electronics throughout our home. The reality is that nothing connected with Tripp Lite surge protectors suffered any damage whatsoever! That is incredible!!! I cannot say the same for the condition of the Tripp Lite surge protectors. The surge protector did its job and gave its life protecting my equipment. Even better still, when I contacted Tripp Lite to report the damaged surge protector, their customer service was stellar; they took down all relevant information and then immediately shipped me replacement surge protectors. Can't beat that; a company that actually stands by their product and honors their warranty.I am completely sold now on these Tripp Lite surge protectors...Read more

If I had spent the money on the TrippLite I would still have my 36" HDTV, DVD, and VCR.Tripp lite's side fuse was popped and would not reset. Internally it was fried, smelled like it melted and something rattled inside. Contacted TrippLite and, no questions asked, they sent me a replacement--no fees. I had the tripplite for at least five years. The LifeTime warranty is real, don't forget that. And this unit is all metal housing. Heavy, solid, with mounting screw holes on the back. THe cable is thick and solid. It will tell you if the plug is ungrounded. The plugs are isolated to eliminate EMI noise from propigating from one plug to the next.My ultra has a modem/phone pass thru on one...Read more

I haven't had the chance to destructively test this yet, however the overall product is great.-build quality: (Aluminum housing, thick wire, sturdy and tight sockets, held together by 10 screws),-great design (small plug footprint angled at 45 degrees will never block other outlets, nice wall/bench attachment hangers on the back, and serious look)-electronics: Inside you will find two PCB's, one for control lights and another for the main protection elements. The main board contains:-Large movs (9 in total) correctly rated for the application.-HRC fuse.-Large filter chokes common mode chokes.-1KV rated line filter capacitors, etc. etc.-thermal detectionThe electronic components are not top brands, but all are correctly rated. E.g. the line Capacitor is branded "Carli" which is an acceptable Chinese brand - and even brands like "Bourns" are making most of their stuff in China, so those guys are getting pretty...Read more amznJQ.onReady('jQuery', function() { amznJQ.available('popover', function() { var widgetDom = jQuery("#R33AT153V4SF72_imageSection_12F1EC84-D25D-11E5-983B-F3FF9AAF84B1"); var images = widgetDom.find(".review-image-thumbnail"); for (var c=0;c

I have these all over my studio. Some are over 10 years old and still work. I have tens of thousands of dollars in equipment plugged into some. From strobe packs to computers, monitors and printers. They're built like the proverbial brick s__thouse and I wouldn't consider another brand. Why mess with cheapies?

The Tripp Lite Isobar Ultra first drew my attention when I went to work for a local communications company. I noticed that in every one of our offices and in almost all of our customers' businesses, equipment was plugged into one of these puppies, from the smallest they offer to the largest. I have witnessed lightning storms that have literally blown sockets out of walls, and yet the equipment plugged into the Isobar has remained intact. Granted, some of the Isobars didn't fare as well as the equipment they protected, but they did their job.Having witnessed the quality of this product, I trust it in my own home. Everything from my computer to my entertainment center to my paper shredder is attached to an Isobar Ultra. I highly recommend it for it's quality and performance.
