This thing sticks, December 18, 2009

I recently bought this pad for use in rental cars when I travel. I used it on my last trip to Florida and it worked fine. I put it on a relatively flat spot on the dash of my rental SUV and it stuck right away even though the dash had been coated with armor all. It has a solid area in the center to attach the vacuum base for the gps and once it was set up I left it on the dash for four days without any problems.

Beware -- this product does not work with hard plastic dashboards! But, you only find this out once you open the plastic packaging (thus making the product non-returnable) and find a notice INSIDE the packaging (and hidden from the outside) that the product is to be used with SOFT VINYL DASHBOARDS ONLY. Having opened the packaging (and therefore not being able to return the product, so I had nothing to lose), I thought I'd try it on my hard plastic dashboard anyway, and of course, it failed to hold.

It leaves no residue when removed.Handstands recommends use on vinyl dashboards only. If the pad loses stickiness, a soap and water rinse will restore it. To prevent dust from sticking to it during storage, I leave it on the plastic liner it was packaged with.I use it with my 3.5" nuvi 255, and it performs well, with zero tipping, tilting or movement, of the pad or the GPS.There may be some conditions under which it might not do as...
