A delight in London and New York - what a pity Local 802 refused to let this BE a Broadway Cast Album too!, May 17, 2012

It's cause for celebration whenever a show succeeds - even more so when it succeeds so spectacularly on one side of the Atlantic that the various theatrical unions allow the personnel which created the success to repeat their jobs on the other side of "The Pond." ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS, a rewrite of Carlo Goldoni's ancient farce with a new incidental (and Tony nominated) score by Grant Olding documented delightfully on this CD was so successful that Actor's Equity made the rare gesture of allowing nearly every actor and actress in the cast in London to repeat their assignments (at least for the beginning of the show's run) on Broadway. They all appear on Track 14 ("The Finale") of this Original Cast Album of the National Theatre of Great Britian Production.Unfortunately, Musicians' Union Local 802 was not as understanding as their sister union, and the composer and musicians which made the London score such a hit (and are marvelous on the OTHER 14 tracks on the CD) were NOT...
