I was first introduced to Reptar at a live performance in Las Vegas, NV in 2011. That was an ideal way to see the talent in this band at work, and likely gave me more appreciation for their recorded material. Reptar is not afraid to push the envelope, and will meld pop with rock and twist it all up and spit out something entirely original. They appear to be a group of guys who love to have fun and making music...well, that is just a large part of them having their fun. Been following these guys since I caught them 2 years ago opening for Menomena. I had no idea who they were, and ended up calling the venue the next day to ask who the opening band was.Hailing from Athens, GA (but with strong ties to Asheville, NC, where I saw them), these guys represent a new Southern sound that sounds familiarly pop, but also uniquely funky.Last fall I had the chance to check them out again at a house party here in AVL, but couldn't go. Glad to see their album is getting some attention, but I have a feeling that that could have been one of my last chances to see them in a small venue without a bunch frat boys and late-coming hipsters.World, they're your band now.
