Personally, I'd prefer it if the UniFi access points used the 802.3af standard without needing these adapters.
That said, these are small and don't require a separate power supply, and can be hidden easily anywhere along the cable run between your 802.3af switch and the AP.
Another alternative is a Ubiquiti-made switch that uses their own PoE protocol. I want to stick with Cisco switches, and I only have a handful of the APs, so I bought these. They work great.
