My first experience with one of these adjustable keyboard trays was at a company where I worked more than 15 years ago. My company at the time was involved in scientific computing and we hired many Ph.D.s for research and development that involved long hours working on UNIX workstations. My company later hired an ergonomics consultant who worked with each employee individually and we were allowed to pick whatever ergonomic furnishings and accessories appealed to us, ranging from uber-expensive ergonomic chairs to adjustable keyboard trays to footrests. I selected their top-of-the-line chair that was even more expensive than the most expensive laptop computer that you can ever buy (I called it Robo-Chair because I had never seen so many adjustable parts in a chair before), along with a nice adjustable keyboard...Read more
I originally bought the 3M Easy-Adjust version of this keyboard tray, but found it to be defective, so I exchanged it for the lever-adjust model. I recently had my home office upgraded with a track-based shelving and a desk from Elfa (via The Container Store). The desk is adjustable down, but it would require me to increase the height of my monitor. After several months of using the keyboard and mouse on the surface of the desk, I started to have tingling and pressure in my fingers. So, instead of moving the desk down, I decided to get a more ergonomic keyboard tray.So far, I have been using this tray for about two or three months, and my fingertips no longer tingle or have a pinching-like feeling (so not only do I feel better, I avoided the costly physical therapy bills).
